Heat of Ritual is the third release from Mere of Light, the solo project of Elise McArdle—an electronic producer, songwriter, vocalist, and electro-acoustic harpist based in New Orleans, Louisiana. Her ethereal music fuses translucent folkish drift and spectral synthesis, with keen poetic lyricism, lean hardware push, and an iridescent sheen.

The album offers six tracks of real-time, transformative electronics. Working alone on the floor with acoustic folk harp, analog synthesizer, drum machine, and voice, McArdle arranges each instrument through a refined process of multitrack sampling.
